Dr. Lidder (MB BS, DPM, MRCPsych) is a highly respected healthcare professional with a wealth of experience in elderly care. Having served as a Consultant Psychiatrist within the NHS’s Mental Health Services for Older People at Kings Mill Hospital, Mansfield since 1984, Dr. Lidder brings a deep understanding and dedication to the well-being of older adults.
Due to the lack of good residential and nursing care available in Mansfield, Dr Lidder began the journey to design and build Lowmoor Nursing Home in 1994, followed by Newgate Lodge Care Home in 2003.The mission was to help provide a therapeutic safe environment in order to promote good quality dignified care, thus enabling more intense emotional interaction and self-respect for clients and their loving family members and friends.
Both homes are purpose built and very thoughtfully designed by us incorporating all the necessary essentials required to ensure high quality ambience for the therapeutic management of people diagnosed with Dementia.
Post-retirement, Dr. Lidder has continued to contribute significantly as the Director at Lidder Care, demonstrating a keen interest in their daily operations. Together with Mr. Lidder, he ensures that Lidder Care Homes are maintained to the highest standards, fostering warm and welcoming environments for all residents.
Dr. Lidder places a strong emphasis on quality care, as well as highlighting the importance of wellbeing, he currently offers invaluable support within the care homes, providing bereavement and supportive counselling to residents, family members, and staff. His expertise as a retired consultant in psychiatry enables him to assist families in understanding dementia diagnoses and navigating the associated emotional challenges.
