Lidder Care has announced the launch of its new Lidder Care Community Fund, an initiative dedicated to supporting local charities, community organisations and worthwhile causes across Mansfield, Ashfield and the surrounding areas.

As a local, family-owned care group with a heritage spanning more than 30 years, Lidder Care has longstanding connections with the communities it serves. The new fund has been established to build on these relationships and provide meaningful support to organisations making a positive difference to local people’s lives.

The fund will support a broad range of grassroots initiatives, including local charities, sports clubs, schools, youth groups and organisations supporting older people and families. Funding will come from contributions made by Lidder Care alongside money raised through fundraising activities involving its care services and wider community.

The first organisation to benefit from the fund will be Parky Players, a Mansfield-based not-for-profit theatre and arts group dedicated to raising awareness of Parkinson’s disease through performance and creative expression.

Manjas Lidder, Managing Director of Lidder Care, said: “As a family-owned care group with over 30 years of experience supporting people across Mansfield and Ashfield, we have always recognised the importance of giving back to the communities that have supported us over the years. The Lidder Care Community Fund is an opportunity for us to build on that commitment by supporting local charities, community groups and organisations that make a real difference to people’s lives.

“We are delighted that Parky Players will be our first beneficiary. Their work in raising awareness of Parkinson’s and bringing people together through the arts is a wonderful example of the kind of community initiative we want to support. We hope this fund will continue to grow and enable us to make a positive and lasting contribution to our local communities.”

Founded in 2020 by Dr Janet Shipton following her Parkinson’s diagnosis at the age of 47, Parky Players provides a creative platform for people living with Parkinson’s and their carers to share their experiences through original theatre productions and performances.

The donation from the Lidder Care Community Fund will help support the group’s ongoing activities, enabling it to develop new productions, share personal experiences and continue raising awareness of Parkinson’s within the wider community.

Janet Shipton, Founder of Parky Players, said: “Parky Players are extremely grateful for the donation from Lidder Care. This will help us continue our work using theatre and the arts to raise awareness of Parkinson’s and reduce the stigma and misunderstanding often faced by those with the condition. We look forward to working with Lidder Care in the future on mutually beneficial projects”.

The launch of the Community Fund reflects Lidder Care’s ongoing commitment to supporting the communities in which it operates, with plans to assist further local organisations and worthwhile causes through future donations, fundraising and community initiatives.

Lidder Care has been serving individuals across Mansfield and Ashfield for more than 30 years. The family-run care provider operates Newgate Lodge Care Home in Mansfield, Lowmoor Nursing Home in Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Lidder Care, a home care service supporting people across Nottinghamshire.
