Activities at Lowmoor Nursing Home

The activities team works extremely hard to get to know each person in our care, as well as their health needs. Using their personal ‘this is me’ booklet, we take a holistic, individual approach, and tailor all events to match the individual needs of each resident. We establish their history, hobbies and interests and incorporate this rich historical information into all the daily activities planned by our creative team to organise activities they interest our residents.

Some of our additional facilities for activities around the home include our corner shop, our Lavender Tearoom and our Miners Arms pub where residents can meet up with family and friends and relax playing bar games while enjoying a drink. Our home has an environment that is ideal for people living with dementia and can help improve their quality of life. We enable residents to stay safe, whilst being physically active and engaged.

We involve the local community in many of our activities, for example, The Gothic biking club have visited the home with motorbikes, The British Legion also have been an excellent community source for crafting strong community links, The local Police force have visited with riot vans, Residents have been out picking litter and assisting the homeless with a soup kitchen, and much more. Staff have also hosted their own pantomimes and “Lidders Got Talent” show.
