Launching Lidder Life Magazine: First Edition

In May, we proudly launched the very first edition of Lidder Life – our new seasonal magazine that captures life across Lidder Care.

From heartfelt stories and special moments to highlights from our incredible teams and residents at Lowmoor Nursing Home, Newgate Lodge Care Home, and Lidder Home Care, Lidder Life is a celebration of the people who make our care community so special.

To mark the launch, we hosted a Bake Sale at Lidder Care HQ in Mansfield, where we were delighted to raise over £160 for our Dementia Table Fundraiser. It was a wonderful way to bring people together, support a meaningful cause, and share this exciting new chapter with our local community.

Fancy Dress Walk Raises Vital Funds For Dementia Tables

Teams from Newgate Lodge and Lowmoor Nursing Home recently took part in two fantastic fancy dress fundraising walks, all in support of our ongoing campaign to raise funds to provide specialist dementia tables for our residents.

Staff went all out in some truly creative and colourful costumes, spreading smiles and joy throughout the local community.

It was heartwarming to see so many happy faces and to feel the incredible support from those who cheered us on along the way.

The Lowmoor team walked from Kirkby in Ashfield to Sutton in Ashfield, raising an impressive £547, whilst the Newgate Lodge team, who were joined by some of our lovely residents, walked through Mansfield and raised a brilliant £222.

A huge well done to both teams for their amazing efforts helping us take a step closer to our fundraising goal.

Supporting Dementia Action Week

To mark Dementia Action Week, we were proud to welcome Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends Ambassador, Tom, to Newgate Lodge Care Home for an engaging and insightful session.

His visit helped deepen our understanding of dementia, explore the lived experiences of those affected and reinforce our commitment to creating a more dementia-friendly community.

Meanwhile, at Lowmoor Nursing Home, the Lowmoor team showed their support by proudly wearing purple and forget-me-not flowers.

It was a meaningful week of learning, reflection and raising awareness of dementia across our homes.

Celebrating International Nurses Day

To mark International Nurses Day, residents and the activities team from Newgate Lodge Care Home paid a heartfelt visit to King’s Mill Hospital in Mansfield, part of Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Together, they handed out thoughtful gifts as a token of appreciation for the incredible dedication shown by our NHS nurses every day.

Among the visitors was resident at Newgate Lodge, Gwen Dando, who proudly shared her own story as a former nurse. Gwen began her training at just 16 in 1946, answering the post-war call for carers.

“I loved being a nurse,” Gwen said. “It was a great career-I just loved caring for people. I’d recommend nursing to anyone.”

It was a touching experience for all and a great way to say thank you to our nursing heroes.

Double The Celebration at Newgate Lodge

We’re proud to celebrate a fantastic achievement by two of our dedicated Team Leaders at Newgate Lodge Care Home.

Congratulations to Anthony and Barbara on successfully completing their Leader in Adult Care Worker Level 3 Apprenticeships.

Anthony has officially passed both his Diploma and End Point Assessment (EPA) – a testament to his hard work and commitment.

Meanwhile, Barbara achieved an incredible Distinction in her EPA, an exceptional result that reflects her dedication to excellence in care.

Both Anthony and Barbara have shown outstanding perseverance and passion throughout their apprenticeship journey and we’re proud of their accomplishments.
