Visiting someone in a care home should not be complicated by the journey. Whether you are driving, using public transport, or relying on a taxi, we want to make it as straightforward as possible to reach us.
Both of our Mansfield care homes are in accessible locations. Below is a practical guide to getting here by each main route.
Newgate Lodge Care Home, Mansfield

By car
Newgate Lodge sits on Newgate Lane in Mansfield, well connected to the A60 and A617 corridors. From Mansfield town centre, follow signs toward the King’s Mill Hospital area. Newgate Lane is clearly signed from the main route.
Free parking is available on site for visitors.
By bus
Several Trentbarton and Nottinghamshire County Council supported routes serve the Newgate Lane area. The most relevant services connecting Mansfield town centre with the hospital corridor and surrounding roads include routes on the Sutton and Kirkby corridors. Mansfield bus station is served by frequent routes from Nottingham, Worksop, Newark, and surrounding towns, making it a practical interchange point if you are travelling from further afield.
By train
The nearest rail station is Mansfield train station, served by the Robin Hood Line running between Nottingham and Worksop, with stops including Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Shirebrook. Trains run regularly throughout the day.
From Mansfield station, Newgate Lodge is approximately 10 to 15 minutes by taxi. Local taxi firms operate from the station rank.

Lowmoor Nursing Home is on Lowmoor Road in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, approximately five miles from Mansfield town centre. From Mansfield, take the A38 toward Kirkby-in-Ashfield. Lowmoor Road is accessible from the B6018 and is well signposted locally.

Kirkby-in-Ashfield is connected to Mansfield and Nottingham by a number of services operating along the A38 corridor. Trentbarton’s Nines route and other Nottinghamshire-supported services serve the area. Check the Trentbarton journey planner or Nottinghamshire buses for live timetables and the nearest stop to Lowmoor Road.
By train
Kirkby-in-Ashfield has its own station on the Robin Hood Line — Kirkby Lane End station — with direct services to Nottingham and connections northward toward Worksop. From the station, Lowmoor Nursing Home is a short taxi or bus ride.
If you are travelling from Nottingham by train, the journey to Kirkby Lane End takes around 30 minutes, making it a practical option for families visiting from the city.

He thrives on collaborating with his team to ensure a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors. Lee’s diverse experience includes working with the elderly, individuals with learning disabilities, and providing specialised rehabilitation support for adults with substance and alcohol misuse issues.
In addition to his work at Newgate Lodge, Lee has supported students at local colleges, assisting those with medical conditions such as Asperger’s, learning disabilities, and emotional or behavioural needs. He has achieved his Level 5 Management and Leadership qualification, demonstrating his commitment to professional development.
Outside of work, Lee is a passionate Mansfield Town football fan and season ticket holder, enthusiastically following his team at both home and away games.
