3 ways residents can better themselves at our Lowmoor lodge

 In Blog

Moving into assisted-living accommodation can be a challenging time for families and residents alike, but it is important to be aware of the opportunities it also presents. Moving into one of our care homes is a great way for residents to better themselves while they are in our care. Here at Lowmoor lodge, we have a wide range of facilities and initiatives that can help our residents continue to better themselves and their families.

It is important to us that our residents feel like they are still contributing to society, so providing opportunities to do so is essential for us at Lidder Care. Join us in this blog as we run through 3 ways our guests can make the most of their stay at our Lowmoor care home.

Trips out into the local community

We have a whole host of activities that are especially designed to get the best out of our residents. One of these, organised by our activities coordinator, is to head out into the local community and help with the effort to keep the streets clean. Our residents and carers do this through the act of litter picking. While it seems small and insignificant to some, it goes a long way to helping the self esteem of our residents. Feeling as if they have really contributed to the local community, our residents return home in a good frame of mind.

Pick up a new hobby at our Lowmoor Care Home

The care we offer our residents here at Lidder Care is centred around the people. With the help of our medically trained nurses, residents are able to take up new hobbies they may have always wanted to try, but thought their chance may have gone. For example we can help our residents take up things like gardening, which offers rich benefits to both their physical and mental wellbeing. Not only this, we also provide the opportunity to take up things such as Art & Crafts, offering similar benefits.

Connect with family at our care homes

The event of moving a loved one into a residential home can sometimes be a difficult one, which is why we understand it’s important residents and guests have a healthy environment to connect. Our Lavender Tearoom and our Miners Arms pub provide environments perfect for family members to connect with their loved one. Due to the familiarity of the surroundings, each party will feel comfortable to have a conversation like they always have.

It is this ability to connect to family, despite no longer living with them, that benefits our residents so much.
