A Day In The Life At Our Mansfield Care Home

 In Blog

Day-to-day life in our Mansfield care home, Newgate Lodge, is as comfortable as you could ever imagine. We pride ourselves here at Lidder care on providing a consistently high standard of care oriented around the people within the homes. We believe that while they may not be able to live independently, they should still be able to undertake regular life activities, with assistance of course.

It can be an emotional time helping a family member move into a Lidder care residency, so we have put this article together to help you better understand what they may get up to when they move. Join us as we run through how our Newgate Lodge residents spend their day.

What options do Newgate Lodge residents have during the day?

Our Newgate Lodge Care Home is a purpose-built residential home that provides day-to-day support for elderly residents. Once they have woken up from their comfortable sleep in one of fifty-five en-suite rooms and either showered or bathed, the world at this point is their oyster. They may choose to venture towards one of two dining halls we have available where they will be greeted by staff and handed their morning meal. Our 5-star catering team will be on hand to serve our residents a nutritious and filling meal. They will also be offered a daily newspaper to enjoy while they eat their meal.

After they have had ample time to digest their breakfast, where they go from here is truly up to them. Should the weather be pleasant, they are more than welcome to venture outside into our secure courtyard that features a fountain, flowers as well as fruit and vegetable patches. All that can be taken in whilst they sit on our patio furniture and take in the joys of nature.

Once they have sat down for their lunchtime meal, our residents may want to move on to an afternoon activity. We encourage an atmosphere of fun and inclusion, which is why we have our very own dedicated full-time Activities coordinator. Residents have the opportunity to enjoy a range of activities such as arts and crafts, gardening and baking, all activities they would have enjoyed before they were welcomed to the Newgate Lodge. There are also opportunities for our residents to venture out into the community. Outings include visits to places such as the theatre and garden centres among many other places.

From here it is time for an evening meal and then they can wind down for the evening before making their way back to their rooms to get into bed and rest up for another day of fulfilling activity the next day.
