Newgate Lodge Care Home Champions Cancer Awareness and Wellbeing Through Community Events

At Newgate Lodge Care Home, our commitment to the wellbeing of our residents, employees and local community is at the heart of everything we do. This month, we have been proud to host a series of uplifting events that not only raised awareness about cancer but also fostered a a spirit of togetherness and support. Our focus on health and wellness was reflected in our celebrations of Maggie’s Nottingham, Stand up To Cancer and Breast Cancer Now. These events informed and united our Newgate family.

Fundraising afternoon tea event in support of Breast Cancer Now

We kicked off the month with our afternoon tea fundraiser in support of Breast Cancer Now.  The event saw our care home buzzing with warmth and camaraderie as attendees gathered for tea, delicious cakes and uplifting conversations about raising awareness about breast cancer.

It was amazing to see so many people come together with the common goal of raising awareness and funds to support the fight against breast cancer. We loved seeing our amazing care team showing their support by wearing pink, showing their solidarity and helping to raise maximum awareness for the cause.

Breast Cancer Now is an incredible charity that funds research, raises awareness and offers support to individuals affected by breast cancer. They play a vital role in not only raising awareness but also providing a lifeline to individuals navigating life after a diagnosis or treatment.

Maggie’s Nottingham visit Newgate Lodge Care Home

In honour of Stand Up to Cancer Day, we welcomed Maggie’s Nottingham to Newgate Lodge, where they led an informative session about the services offered by Maggie’s Centres and the comprehensive cancer support they provide.

It was a fantastic opportunity for our care and operations team, as well as members of the local community to gain a deeper understanding of Maggie’s and the incredible support that they provide in Nottingham. It was empowering for all involved.

Our team listened to an presentation highlighting their work, sharing inspiring stories and engaging videos that went in depth about the support that they provide. They offer a range of classes and workshops and peer group sessions for those affected by cancer, designed to help manage the emotional and physical challenges.
