What Makes Our Mansfield Care Home Feel Like Home?

 In Residential Care

When you move to a care home, you might be scared that it won’t feel like a real home, that it will feel too clean and cold, or that it will be hard to get used to living there.

At Lidder Care, we’re really proud of how we make sure you feel cosy and at home in our special places. In this blog, we’re going to show you around our Newgate Lodge Care Home in Mansfield and talk about how it’s a comfortable and friendly place to live.

Our Bedrooms

Within Newgate Lodge Care Home, there are a total of 55 spacious single, en suite bedrooms

Downstairs the ground floor is named ‘The Willows’, featuring 23 rooms suited for those looking for the Residential Care service. Upstairs, there are 32 gorgeous bedrooms suited specifically for those looking for Dementia Care, housed nearer to our teams specialised in caring for those living with dementia. Every bedroom is decorated to the resident’s taste, providing a unique home experience designed for maximum comfort.

Within each bedroom, residents have home comforts with a private TV signal, wifi, and a telephone line. This makes it easy to connect with family and friends from the comfort of your room. Also promoting personal relationships, adjoining rooms are available for married couples or partners/siblings.

Outdoor Facilities

Alongside our indoor facilities, we also have a beautiful enclosed garden courtyard with a feature fountain that holds our resident goldfish. Residents often sit outdoors in warmer weather to listen to the calming sounds of the running water and watch the birds and fish.

There is also a sensory garden designed for residents with dementia to have a stimulating experience. While this is currently being renovated, we are so excited for our residents to enjoy the new and improved sensory garden.

During the summer months, residents can enjoy a range of outdoor activities designed by our activities coordinator including gardening and yoga. The garden also provides a great opportunity for residents to socialise with one another and build lasting friendships.

Social Activities

As we touched on previously, at Newgate Lodge Care Home we know the importance of socialising and how much it means to spend time with others. To promote this, we have a wide range of social activities with the aim of building new relationships with the people around them. This is enhanced further through the communal design of the Care Home, featuring four dining rooms, a conservatory lounge, a garden courtyard, a reminiscence lounge, a resident-run tuck shop, and a multi-faith room.

We also want to encourage maintaining excellent relationships with existing friends and family. With visiting allowed every day of the week, there is always a chance for our residents to socialise.
